Oman’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MoCSY) has launched the Digital Innovation Award for Libraries, an initiative aimed at encouraging libraries across the country to adopt advanced technologies and modern digital practices.
The award seeks to promote innovation within library services by supporting institutions that integrate digital tools to improve access to knowledge, enhance user experiences and strengthen the role of libraries in the digital era.
According to the ministry, the initiative is designed to motivate libraries to develop creative digital solutions, modernize their operations and contribute to the broader digital transformation of the cultural and knowledge sectors in Oman.
The programme encourages libraries to adopt emerging technologies, expand digital collections and create interactive platforms that allow communities to access information more efficiently.
Officials said the award also aims to highlight successful digital initiatives within libraries, encouraging the sharing of best practices across the sector.
By recognizing outstanding projects, the initiative is expected to stimulate further innovation in library management, digital content services and community engagement.
The ministry noted that strengthening digital capabilities within libraries aligns with Oman’s wider strategy to advance knowledge-based development and support innovation across cultural institutions.
