Cassava scales African Artificial Intelligence (AI) Infrastructure with NVIDIA-Powered AI Factories to accelerate sovereign data capabilities

SAN JOSE, United States of America, March 18, 2026/ — Cassava Technologies announced the deployment of its NVIDIA-powered AI Factory in South Africa, marking a significant step in building sovereign AI infrastructure across the continent, with expansion plans for Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt and Morocco.

The initiative aims to provide high-performance computing capacity and localized AI capabilities, enabling African businesses and governments to develop, train and deploy AI solutions within their own borders. By offering services such as GPU-as-a-Service and AI-as-a-Service, Cassava is lowering barriers to entry and accelerating access to advanced technologies.

At the core of this ecosystem is the Cassava AI Multi-Model Exchange (CAIMEx), a platform that enables developers to access, build and deploy applications using leading AI models and tools powered by NVIDIA technologies. The company has also introduced the Cassava Autonomous Network, designed to enhance network performance for mobile operators across Africa.

The localized deployment of AI infrastructure supports data sovereignty by ensuring that sensitive data remains within national boundaries, while also enabling the development of AI models tailored to African languages and local contexts, including Swahili, Zulu and Afrikaans.

Industry partners highlighted the broader impact of the initiative, noting its role in strengthening digital sovereignty, supporting innovation and fostering local talent development. The infrastructure is expected to benefit sectors including telecom, finance, healthcare, energy and public services.

Cassava Technologies aims to position Africa as a global AI innovation hub by enabling local enterprises to move from technology consumption to creation, supporting economic growth and digital inclusion across the continent.
