A high-level delegation from the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) recently visited Microsoft’s headquarters in Los Angeles to investigate the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in boosting workforce productivity and advancing smart infrastructure. The delegation was led by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dewa, and included meetings with Microsoft executives Rajmohan Rajagopalan, General Manager of M365 Copilot and Apps, and Ricardo Villalobos, Principal Director of Industry Software Engineering.
Discussions centered around leveraging Microsoft’s AI solutions to foster an empowered, efficient, and innovative workforce, as well as exploring AI-driven smart building solutions that align with Dewa’s commitment to digital innovation and sustainable infrastructure.
Earlier this year, Dewa became the first government entity in the UAE to equip its employees with Microsoft’s smart assistants, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Security Copilot. This initiative is part of Dewa’s broader strategy to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality through the integration of innovation and disruptive technologies. Dewa is also recognized as one of the first utilities worldwide to adopt Microsoft’s Copilot technology.
During the visit, the Microsoft team showcased the capabilities of Microsoft 365 Copilot, an advanced AI tool aimed at automating and improving daily operations to boost workforce efficiency. Discussions also included Microsoft’s AI-powered smart building solutions designed to optimize energy consumption and create sustainable building environments. These initiatives are in line with Dewa’s vision for sustainability, innovation, and the development of smart cities in Dubai.
Al Tayer emphasized Dewa’s commitment to utilizing cutting-edge technologies to achieve its strategic objectives of operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and environmental sustainability. “Dewa is dedicated to adopting the latest digital solutions, including AI, to maintain our position as a leading sustainable and innovative utility globally while contributing to Dubai’s vision as a smart and sustainable city,” Al Tayer stated. He added that the collaboration with Microsoft will unlock new technological advancements beneficial for both Dewa’s workforce and its customers.
