Zain KSA, a leading telecommunications and digital services provider in Saudi Arabia, has successfully acquired the 600 MHz spectrum band, a key frequency for 5G Standalone (5G SA) mobile services. This milestone was achieved through the spectrum auction organized by the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST) on November 11-12, 2024.
The acquisition reflects Zain KSA’s commitment to advancing digital technologies and solutions to enhance user experience, strengthen competitiveness, and improve digital infrastructure. The 600 MHz spectrum is expected to expand service coverage across cities, villages, remote areas, and highways, offering greater reliability, improved quality, and increased network capacity for Zain KSA’s state-of-the-art 5G network.
The new frequency band enables greater flexibility for delivering advanced 5G services, including Internet of Things (IoT) and smart city solutions. By utilizing low-band frequencies, the standalone 5G infrastructure will provide extensive coverage capable of connecting millions of devices. The new spectrum will also enhance indoor coverage in residential and commercial spaces due to its ability to penetrate physical and natural barriers.
Eng. Saad bin Abdulrahman Al-Sadhan, Acting CEO of Zain KSA, stated, “At Zain KSA, we remain committed to our ambitious mission of delivering an exceptional user experience while enriching the telecommunications and digital services sector with cutting-edge infrastructure and innovative solutions, driving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.”
