In a significant milestone for the UAE’s telecom industry, du has officially launched the du Innovation Center, aimed at maximizing the potential of its network to drive new commercial innovations using next-generation technologies. This initiative seeks to set a global standard for 5G advanced technology solutions across both the consumer and enterprise sectors, positioning the UAE as a regional and global leader in the application of next-generation technologies within commercial networks.
The inauguration ceremony, held in Dubai, was attended by key industry figures, including Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO of du; Karim Benkirane, Chief Commercial Officer of du; and Saleem Alblooshi, Chief Technology Officer of du, alongside other senior executives.
The du Innovation Center is designed to focus on exploring commercial opportunities within the 5G Advanced era. It will accelerate the development of multi-dimensional experiences that integrate artificial intelligence (AI), including advancements in Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), immersive extended reality (XR), open network capabilities, and business-to-business (B2B) applications. Through this initiative, du aims to leverage the power of 5G and AI to introduce innovative solutions that enhance user experiences across various sectors.
As part of its strategy, du plans to bring new benefits and services to the consumer space, such as enhanced live-streaming with better uplink capacity, prioritization for speed, performance, low-latency gaming, and high-bandwidth solutions for remote work. These services will also cater to live concerts and sports events, elevating the user experience.
Furthermore, continuous upgrades to the Fixed Wireless Network will deliver gigabit-level speeds in the home sector, improving video streaming quality and reducing latency for online gaming. Additionally, AI-enabled solutions will allow users to remotely access gaming consoles with low-latency performance and high-speed connections, enhancing the gaming experience.
For enterprises, du will provide dedicated network connections through 5G advanced, Smart Networks, and Mobile Private Networks, ensuring faster and more reliable connections for business-critical applications, such as smart manufacturing, remote collaboration, and intelligent logistics. New AI-driven services, including digital humans and AI assistants, are also in development, further solidifying du’s leadership in AI innovation.
du’s leadership in 5G coverage and network speed, along with its deployment of the TDD 3CC commercial network and next-generation services, reinforces the company’s position at the forefront of 5G innovation.
