Bahrain’s NSSA Partners with BRS Labs to Offer Online Space Science Training for Students

Bahrain’s National Space Science Agency (NSSA) has signed an agreement with BRS Labs to offer online space science training for students. The agreement, formalized at the Bahrain International Airshow 2024, builds on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2023. BRS Labs, a licensed educational partner of Hexagon, USA, will provide comprehensive online courses in remote sensing, space technology, and satellite systems.

This initiative reflects Bahrain’s commitment to advancing 21st-century educational technologies and supporting His Majesty the King’s national vision to position Bahrain as a leader in space sciences.

As part of the agreement, over 100 spots will be available for Bahraini students aged 12 to 16 to participate in the online space science training. Thirty selected students will complete the program in the summer of 2025, coordinated by NSSA and the Ministry of Education. The program will include hands-on training with Hexagon’s specialized remote sensing and satellite image analysis software, widely used by international space agencies. Upon completion, students will receive professional certification.

Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Aseeri of NSSA stated that the agreement is an important step in encouraging Bahraini students to explore STEM fields, especially within the space sector, aligning with NSSA’s strategic goals. He expressed optimism about the impact this initiative would have on Bahrain’s educational and scientific landscape.

Ayman Salem, Executive Director of BRS Labs, expressed his commitment to the partnership and thanked Hexagon’s Safety, Infrastructure, and Geospatial Division for supporting students with industry-grade software. He noted that BRS Labs is dedicated to advancing space technology education and anticipates that this collaboration will expand opportunities for Bahraini students in the field.
