Bahrain’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority is advancing preparations for 6G and satellite services through its spectrum committee, aligning with Vision 2030. The strategy ensures Bahrain’s continued leadership in digital innovation, secure networks, and global telecom competitiveness.
Bahrain’s TRA held the 18th SSCC meeting to strengthen spectrum strategy ahead of WRC-27, focusing on enabling 6G, satellite, and 5G private networks. The committee stressed innovation, security, and data sovereignty under Bahrain’s Vision 2030. Eng. Mariam Al Juman reaffirmed TRA’s commitment to world-class connectivity and future-ready digital transformation.
UAE and Saudi Arabia are moving forward with plans for 6G networks, with the UAE targeting a 2030 launch. However, telecom experts question the business case for 6G due to slowing data growth in MENA and the high costs of deploying 6G infrastructure compared to the ongoing expansion of 5G.
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is preparing for the launch of 6G technology, forecasting $1 billion in revenue. While 6G is still under development, Nigeria is focused on defining its spectrum policy. As of December 2024, 5G accounts for just 2.46% of the country’s mobile subscribers.

Challenges like large traffic generators, OTT regulation, and infrastructure constraints persist. The government’s Bharat 6G Vision aims for 10% of global 6G patents, positioning India as a leader in digital advancements.
