Algeria has launched construction of a landing station for the Medusa submarine cable in Skikda, strengthening Mediterranean digital connectivity. The 8,700-kilometer system will connect over ten countries, support 5G and cloud services, and enhance network resilience, with full operations expected by early 2027.
Algeria’s telecom minister Sid Ali Zerrouki attended MWC 2025 in Doha, meeting with Qatar’s ICT minister and major industry players, including Ooredoo Group. Talks focused on developing technology parks, boosting bilateral cooperation, and supporting Algeria’s digital transformation. Annaba State has achieved rapid progress in telecom and postal services since April 2025, with fiber subscriptions up 46%, 40 new mobile stations added, digital skills training launched, and mobile post offices deployed. The initiatives reflect Algeria’s broader push to modernize communications and improve citizen services.
Mobilis has launched “Cridilis,” an emergency credit service enabling subscribers to borrow 20, 50, or 100 dinars by dialing a dedicated code. The borrowed amount, plus a small service fee, is deducted upon the next recharge, offering customers uninterrupted connectivity in urgent situations.
