Nepal’s smartphone imports surged 21% to nearly 2 million units worth over Rs. 32 billion in the first 11 months of fiscal year 2024/25. China remains the largest supplier, followed by India and other countries, contributing to increased government revenue and greater market availability.
Nepal has imported 1.229 million smartphones worth Rs 19 billion in the first seven months of FY 2024/25, showing an increase in both the number and value of imports compared to the previous year. This growth reflects the rising demand for smartphones, especially those priced between Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000.
