Amnah Energy has signed an MoU to supply green hydrogen to Meranti’s proposed green iron DRI plant in Oman. The deal connects gigawatt-scale renewable hydrogen production with low-carbon steel inputs, reinforcing Oman’s position as a regional hub for green energy and industrial decarbonisation.
Hynfra has partnered with Poland’s Promet-Plast to deploy integrated hydrogen and renewable energy technologies across green ammonia projects in Egypt, Oman, Jordan, and Mauritania. The collaboration leverages Promet-Plast’s arid-ready Agro-Hydro-Energy platform to reduce project risk and support scalable hydrogen development in the MENA region.
Algeria has launched a plan to develop renewable energy and green hydrogen projects, aiming to reduce reliance on conventional electricity and save fossil fuels for export. Funded by the EU and Germany, the initiative seeks to increase renewable energy to 27% of the energy mix by 2026, alongside green hydrogen development.
TAQA and ACWA Power, along with other international firms, have secured multi-billion-dollar green hydrogen projects in Morocco. These projects, focused on ammonia, industrial fuel, and green steel production, are part of Morocco’s efforts to strengthen its position in the global green energy market, with a combined value of nearly $32 billion.
Oman is set to launch a Net Zero Centre to support its 2050 zero neutrality goal. The Centre will focus on green hydrogen production, carbon certificate trading, and energy efficiency. New green hydrogen projects and a liquid hydrogen corridor with the Netherlands are also part of Oman’s sustainable energy efforts.
