Robi has launched international roaming in 70 countries, purchasable in local currency, with nine flexible packages. Zong 4G has partnered with MoRA for Hajj 2025 to provide over 91,000 Pakistani pilgrims with free SIMs, international roaming, and a tailored telecom package. The services include data, international minutes, and WhatsApp access, along with real-time tracking, a helpline, and on-ground support in Saudi Arabia.
Bangladesh Bank has authorized mobile operators to accept local currency (taka) payments for international roaming services, simplifying the process for travelers. Customers can pay up to Tk 6,000 per trip and Tk 30,000 annually, with conditions for payment activation. This initiative aims to reduce reliance on foreign payment mechanisms.
