Pakistan’s mobile phone imports declined by 7.46% in the first half of FY 2024-25, totaling $733.425 million. While monthly imports showed a slight increase, the year-on-year growth remained negative. Locally manufactured handsets reached 28.43 million, with smartphones accounting for 65% of the market.
In the first quarter of FY 2024-25, Pakistan’s mobile phone imports dropped to $246.472 million, an 18.93% decline from the previous year. Meanwhile, local manufacturing surged, producing 20.44 million handsets from January to August 2024, highlighting a shift towards domestic production amidst changing market dynamics.
Iran has seen a decrease in mobile phone imports, with a 16% drop in volume and an 8% decrease in value. The decline coincides with ongoing restrictions, including a ban on new Apple phone models, amid stringent US sanctions.
