Broadband Infraco has partnered with Huawei to build a nationwide intelligent all-optical backbone network supporting South Africa’s SA Connect strategy. Using 800G optical technology, the project will expand affordable broadband, bridge urban-rural connectivity gaps, and strengthen regional cross-border digital infrastructure by 2030.
Omantel has launched a regional Managed Optical Fibre Network using Ciena’s WaveLogic 6 technology, offering up to 1.6 Tbps per wavelength for hyperscalers and cloud providers. With end-to-end management, automated provisioning, and multi-country reach via Zain and ZOI, the network strengthens Oman’s role as a regional digital connectivity hub.
Nokia has partnered with Ooredoo Oman to deploy a high-capacity DWDM network to meet the demands of hyperscalers, AI, and cloud platforms. This collaboration will enhance Oman’s digital infrastructure, enabling low-latency connectivity and establishing the country as a key regional hub, with services launching in March 2025.
