Pakistan is preparing for a major spectrum auction to enhance its telecommunications infrastructure. The auction will release 567 MHz of spectrum to improve mobile broadband services, support 4G and 5G rollout, and boost the telecom sector’s growth. PTA and NERA are guiding the process, which aims to attract investment and drive economic development.
Chaudhary Group’s CG Telecom won spectrum licenses in Moldova’s recent auction, bidding nearly 570 million rupees for two 20 MHz blocks in the 3600 MHz range. The auction raised 26.31 million euros, and the licenses granted to telecom companies will facilitate expanded mobile services in Moldova.
TRAI has recommended auctioning nearly 3,000MHz of mmWave spectrum in the 37GHz to 40GHz range for India’s next auction, aiming to attract operator interest. The auction is proposed at a lower reserve price compared to previous bands, with payment terms including upfront and annual installments.
TRAI has recommended auctioning mmWave spectrum for 5G services in the 37-40 GHz bands at a 14% lower price than previous auctions. The reserve price is set at INR 59.8 million per MHz. This move aims to encourage more participation from telcos and speed up 5G deployment in India.
