Pakistan’s ConnectHear and Ufone have launched SUNO, an AI-powered early warning system that delivers sign language disaster alerts via WhatsApp. Funded by the GSMA Innovation Fund, the initiative bridges a critical communication gap for Pakistan’s 10 million deaf citizens, ensuring inclusive, life-saving information access during emergencies.
Pakistan’s telecom operators invested Rs. 267.6 billion over three years, with Jazz leading at Rs. 95.45 billion, followed by Zong, Ufone, and Telenor. Despite this, service quality gaps persist, prompting PTA to issue warnings and show-cause notices. Over 65,000 complaints were filed, mainly about data services.
Ufone and Jazz rank first in PTA’s Q2 2025 mobile coverage survey across 19 Pakistani cities, demonstrating the most reliable 4G/3G signal compliance. Zong follows closely, while Telenor lags with the highest non-compliance.
Ufone 4G has partnered with Jubilee General Insurance (JGI) to offer two insurance plans to its customers. The ‘Personal Accident Insurance’ provides coverage for accidental death and disabilities, while the ‘Bill Protector Insurance’ covers bills in case of disability or death. Plans start from as low as Rs 1 per day.
