The mobile phone market in Bahrain experienced remarkable growth during the first quarter of 2024, attracting approximately 34,000 new mobile phone subscriptions compared to the same period in 2023.
The number of mobile phone subscribers in the Kingdom surged by 13.8%, reaching 2.44 million in Q1 2024, up from 2.15 million subscribers in Q1 2023. Consequently, the mobile phone penetration rate increased from 136% to 155%.
This growth is attributed to the widespread use of smartphones, which have become essential tools for communication, accessing information, and entertainment.
Prepaid mobile phone subscriptions also saw a significant increase, growing by 7.7% to reach 1.55 million subscriptions in Q1 2024.
