By 2031, the Dubai Police will fully integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into all aspects of its services, according to top officials. Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, has approved the Strategic Plan 2018-31 for the Artificial Intelligence Department, aligning with the UAE’s AI Strategy launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Dubai 2021 Plan.
Brigadier-General Khaled Nasser Al Razzouqi, Director-General of the newly named Artificial Intelligence Department, emphasized that AI will be used in all police areas, including security, crime forecasting, traffic management, and the development of advanced AI tools. The plan aims to enhance the skills of officials in using AI across all police departments.
The AI Strategic Plan 2018-2031 focuses on key goals such as “Delight the Society” by providing accessible future policing services and making “Dubai a Safe City” through optimal AI system utilization. The plan covers community service centers, criminal investigations, road security, disaster management, and forensics.
Key initiatives include developing AI-assisted customer service centers, smart police stations, and innovative “walk-in” and “drive-through” centers featuring robots. AI will also be integrated into criminal investigations, forensic work, police operations, traffic safety, and disaster management, improving crowd control and emergency response.
The plan aims to enhance accuracy and efficiency in customer interactions across multiple languages, boosting the overall performance of police officers. AI will drive rapid changes and significant improvements in the work systems at all government levels, contributing to Dubai’s leadership in smart city innovation.
