Oman Sees Growth in Postpaid Mobile and Fixed Internet Subscriptions in 2024

Muscat – The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) has reported a 9% increase in postpaid mobile subscriptions in Oman during the first half of 2024, bringing the total to 1.89 million. Meanwhile, prepaid mobile subscriptions declined by 4.5% to 5.05 million, leading to an overall 1.1% drop in mobile subscriptions compared to the previous year.

Active mobile broadband subscriptions reached 5.84 million by June 2024, while fixed internet subscriptions saw a 6.5% rise, totaling 577,252. On the other hand, fixed-line subscriptions experienced a significant decrease of 21.7%, falling to 441,196, with analogue lines plummeting by 71.1%. However, subscriptions using Internet Protocol (IP) technology saw growth, increasing by 15.6% to 317,912.

Muscat led in the number of fixed analogue lines, accounting for 47.47% of the total, followed by North Batinah and Dhofar Governorates.
