Kuwait’s Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) has announced the introduction of new frequencies to support the rollout of the 5G Advanced network. As part of this upgrade, the country will gradually phase out 3G services by June 2025, reallocating resources to enhance and expand 4G and 5G capabilities.
The introduction of 5G-A technology will bolster Kuwait’s leadership in adopting cutting-edge technologies, improving digital services, and enhancing user experiences. This upgrade will expand mobile network capacity, allowing more 5G subscribers to enjoy high-quality service.
Abdullah Al Ajmi, acting chairman of CITRA, noted that the 5G-A network will support modern applications like the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, 3D video, and cloud services. These advancements will cater to the needs of smart cities and enable ultra-high-speed data transfers of up to 10 gigabits per second, benefiting sectors such as government, industry, commerce, and individual users.
