The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is increasingly recognized as a leading tech hub, surpassing traditional tech destinations like Germany and Hong Kong in popularity among tech workers. A recent survey by Capital.com revealed that 45% of tech professionals in Asia are willing to relocate to the UAE for career opportunities, compared to 38% who would consider Germany and 20% who favor Hong Kong.
The survey, which included responses from 1,000 tech professionals in Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and India, highlighted the UAE’s strong appeal as a burgeoning tech hub. Notably, 81% of respondents view the UAE as a rapidly growing tech center, and 76% believe it offers a supportive environment for the technology sector.
The UAE competes closely with other global tech destinations such as Singapore (46%), the UK (57%), and the US (52%). Tarik Chebib, CEO of Capital.com Middle East, emphasized the UAE’s growing status, stating, “With eight out of ten respondents recognizing the UAE as a competitive tech hub, it’s evident that the region is gaining traction as a favorable destination for tech talent.”
Government initiatives have played a crucial role in bolstering the UAE’s reputation as a tech-friendly location. A significant 93% of those surveyed highlighted the importance of governmental support for the tech industry. The UAE’s targeted efforts to attract international tech talent through supportive policies are paying off.
Respondents pointed to several attractive features of the UAE, including specialized banking, visa options, healthcare packages, and real estate services tailored for tech professionals. Additionally, the high quality of life (60%), competitive salaries (54%), and strategic geographic location (52%) were noted as key factors influencing their decision to consider relocation.
Capital.com, a key partner in the UAE’s NextGenFDI initiative, has witnessed the government’s commitment to nurturing the tech sector. “The UAE’s business-friendly environment, innovative policies, and strategic position as a gateway to various regions make it an ideal place for both companies and tech professionals,” Chebib added.
The survey also found that while many respondents are open to relocating, 47% are actively seeking opportunities to move, underscoring the UAE’s potential to attract and retain global tech talent. As a licensed company under the UAE’s Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), Capital.com leverages this growing appeal to recruit top-tier talent from around the world, further solidifying the UAE’s position as a vibrant tech destination.
