Samsung has upgraded its smart TV models to include the ’51’ digital entertainment platform, developed in partnership with Ooredoo Kuwait. This collaboration ensures that all Samsung smart TVs running the ‘Tizen’ operating system, from 2018 models onward, will feature this platform, enhancing the entertainment experience across the Gulf and Arab regions.
This strategic move integrates Ooredoo Kuwait’s ’51’ platform with Samsung’s cutting-edge audiovisual technology to deliver a cinematic experience right at home. The platform, which originated from a joint venture between the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information and the private sector led by Ooredoo, has been a success, amassing over 6 million views from 186 countries since its inception. It offers a mix of live and on-demand content, including Kuwait’s own TV and radio broadcasts.
Nikola Aksentijevic, Director and Head of the Visual Display Group at Samsung Gulf Electronics, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “This collaboration not only reaffirms our commitment to providing superior entertainment experiences but also demonstrates our dedication to enhancing our screens with both exceptional picture quality and rich content.”
Named to commemorate the year Kuwait started radio broadcasting, the ’51’ platform highlights the successful public-private partnership model and aligns with Kuwait’s national development goals, including the “Kuwait Vision 2035.” By making this platform available on Samsung smart TVs, Ooredoo Kuwait continues to lead in digital innovation and shows its commitment to using technology to cater to the dynamic needs of its customers.
