Oman Launches Third Round of National Digital Economy Programme in Buraimi

Buraimi hosted the launch of the third round of Oman’s National Digital Economy Programme on Sunday, a pivotal initiative supporting the Oman Vision 2040 goals. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, the event drew participation from critical bodies such as the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, and the Central Bank of Oman.

The programme underscores eight executive pillars that are foundational to bolstering Oman’s digital landscape: Government Digital Transformation, Digital Industry, E-Commerce, Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Digital Technologies, Space, Cybersecurity Industry, Financial Technologies, and Digital Infrastructure. These components are designed to fortify the nation’s digital economy and equip Oman for forthcoming technological evolutions.

The day was marked by insightful presentations and discussions focusing on e-commerce, financial technologies, and broader digital transformation themes. The event encouraged engagement from diverse groups including government staff, students, and job seekers, facilitating an open dialogue session to collect valuable feedback and ideas for future directions of the programme.

Highlighting the importance of inclusivity, officials called for the active involvement of all Omani governorates in the initiative, stressing decentralisation as a means to ensure widespread success and collective advancement in the digital domain.
