Morocco has announced the establishment of a new Tech Trades Complex in Lahraouyine, located in the province of Médiouna, as part of its ambitious ‘Digital Morocco 2030’ strategy. This initiative is aimed at transforming the country’s technology sector and equipping young Moroccans with in-demand digital skills.
The Tech Trades Complex will offer specialized training in key areas such as software development, programming, data analysis, digital marketing, cybersecurity, AI, and more. It will also focus on digital project management and social entrepreneurship, aligning with Morocco’s broader goals of boosting employment in the tech industry.
Morocco’s Digital 2030 strategy aims to create 240,000 jobs in the technology sector by 2030, contributing approximately $10.36 billion to the country’s GDP. It also seeks to launch 3,000 digital start-ups, with a focus on emerging technologies such as AI, distributed ledger technology, and cloud services.
The complex will serve as a hub for training and innovation, enhancing the skills of local tech professionals and enabling them to meet the evolving demands of the global digital economy. According to Hassan Bela, head of the support department for vulnerable individuals in Médiouna, the complex will help young Moroccans qualify for the job market and adapt to changing labor trends.
This development follows Oracle’s recent announcement of increased investments in Morocco, including the establishment of two new Cloud Regions and plans to hire 1,000 IT specialists to boost its research and development capabilities in the country. These efforts are set to further accelerate Morocco’s progress toward becoming a digital powerhouse in North Africa.
