His Excellency Milojko Spajić, Prime Minister of Montenegro, attended an event hosted by the Labour Fund “Tamkeen” to explore Bahrain’s groundbreaking efforts in training and preparing a competitive national workforce for the labor market. This initiative is part of Bahrain’s comprehensive development strategy, which began more than 25 years ago with the accession of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the throne, with strong support from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The event featured an exhibition highlighting Bahrain’s achievements in developing a highly competitive national workforce, with a particular focus on leveraging innovation and creativity, especially in the technology sector. Success stories from Bahrainis who completed specialized tech-training programs supported by Tamkeen were showcased. These programs were developed in collaboration with renowned training organizations such as General Assembly, Reboot 01, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Deputy Chairman of Tamkeen, emphasized the organization’s commitment to fulfilling the directives of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Isa bin Salman Education Charitable Trust and Chairman of Tamkeen’s Board of Directors. He highlighted the launch of programs and initiatives aimed at advancing national development while expanding strategic partnerships to ensure sustainable prosperity for the Kingdom and its people.
During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Tamkeen and Montenegro’s Ministry of Education, Science, and Innovation. The agreement focuses on facilitating knowledge exchange to enhance private sector productivity through technology and innovation, as well as skills-building programs. The MoU was signed by Minister Al Malki on behalf of Bahrain and HE Milojko Spajić on behalf of Montenegro’s Minister of Education, Science, and Innovation.
Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of Tamkeen, underscored the significance of these strategic partnerships in equipping national talent with in-demand skills that enhance their competitiveness both locally and internationally. She emphasized that the initiative also opens new opportunities for Bahrainis to innovate and launch successful business models, thus fostering the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Mofeez noted that these programs have already yielded impressive results, with many graduates securing rewarding job opportunities or career development prospects within nine months of completing their training. Furthermore, the programs have inspired creative individuals to start their own tech enterprises, contributing positively to the entrepreneurial landscape.
In the past three years, Tamkeen’s initiatives have trained over 6,000 Bahrainis in the private sector in Information Technology, with the number expected to double in the near future. These efforts align with Tamkeen’s 2024 strategic priorities, which aim to increase economic participation through new employment opportunities, expand career development avenues, and support private sector growth to drive sustainable economic impact.
