Casablanca, Morocco – Orange Middle East and Africa, in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), has launched the “Master Repair” project. This initiative aims to empower youth by providing training and promoting the creation of micro-enterprises in the growing fields of electronic repair and sustainable technologies.
The project targets young people in Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal, and Egypt, offering specialized training programs in repairing electronic devices, installing and maintaining solar panels, and installing optical fiber. By focusing on these high-demand skills, the project aims to enhance the employability of young people and support them in creating their own businesses.
“This partnership with GIZ illustrates our commitment to supporting young people, especially women and persons with disabilities, towards sustainable professional integration and a more inclusive economic future,” said Jérôme Hénique, Chief Executive Officer of Orange Middle East and Africa.
The “Master Repair” project is particularly focused on empowering young women and people with disabilities, promoting inclusive economic development and creating decent job opportunities. This aligns with the goals of the develoPPP program, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the special initiative “Decent Work for a Just Transition.”
“Technical training, especially on the technologies of the future, enables us to strengthen the employability of young people and contribute to the creation of decent jobs in 4 countries,” said Elisabeth Richter, Programme Manager of develoPPP for Jobs. “The inclusion of persons with disabilities is particularly important.”
This initiative is part of the broader mission of the Orange Digital Center, which promotes digital inclusion and supports the development of digital skills for employment, particularly among youth and women. By collaborating with GIZ, Orange Middle East and Africa is further strengthening its commitment to social responsibility and sustainable development.
“Together, we invest in skills that not only create opportunities but also strengthen the foundations of a circular and resilient economy for tomorrow,” added Hénique.
The “Master Repair” project represents a significant step towards empowering youth in Africa, providing them with valuable skills and opportunities to thrive in the digital economy while contributing to a more sustainable future.Sources and related content
