Morocco Prepares to Launch Satellite Internet with Starlink and OneWeb in 2025

Morocco is set to become one of the first North African countries to enable satellite internet services from SpaceX’s Starlink and OneWeb starting in 2025. The National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) is preparing to issue licenses to both companies, marking a major step toward enhancing the country’s digital landscape.

This move could set a regional standard for satellite internet, with Morocco leading the way in integrating low-Earth orbit (LEO) technology. Starlink and OneWeb are ready to offer various service models and price points, ensuring competition that could drive down costs and increase internet accessibility throughout the country.

The decision aligns with Morocco’s “Digital Morocco 2030” policy, which aims to boost the country’s digital infrastructure and provide broader internet access. This initiative is expected to contribute significantly to Morocco’s goal of becoming Africa’s leading digital hub, promoting socioeconomic growth, increasing digital literacy, and improving information access across the continent.
