Huawei Completes DigiSchool 2024 Project in Morocco, Advancing Digital Education and Inclusion

Huawei has successfully completed the DigiSchool 2024 project in Morocco, marking a significant contribution to promoting equitable access to digital technology for students across the Kingdom. Launched in February 2024, the initiative is aligned with the Moroccan government’s 2022-2026 education reform roadmap. The completion of this project marks the first phase of a public-private partnership between the Moroccan Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, and Huawei Morocco, under Huawei’s global TECH4ALL digital inclusion initiative.

“The DigiSchool project highlights the importance of strengthening digital skills and solidifying public-private partnerships as key drivers for a resilient digital ecosystem,” said David Li, Managing Director of Huawei Morocco. “With this strategic partnership, Huawei is committed to further investment in training and innovation, supporting Morocco’s aspirations for quality, inclusive digital education.”

The project aimed to develop digital skills and provide training for both students and teachers in areas such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, web and app development. Participants also had the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities involving robotics and coding, solving tech puzzles, and improving digital literacy through interactive games designed to foster creativity and initiative.

DigiSchool 2024 unfolded in four phases. The first phase trained 265 secondary school teachers in ICT skills across Morocco’s 12 regions. Phase two focused on providing ongoing support to these teachers as they applied their new skills in the classroom with 2,650 students. The third phase included 12 regional hackathons between May and November, where 714 students worked to develop ICT solutions to various challenges.

The final phase took place in December with technology bootcamps in Fez, Marrakech, and Agadir, organized in collaboration with regional education academies. These bootcamps brought together 180 students and 60 teachers, refining the ICT skills developed in class and during the hackathons. Students received personalized support to improve their hackathon projects and present them to a panel of judges, with top submissions winning prizes.

The DigiSchool 2024 program concluded with an evaluation tour of the Agadir bootcamp from December 17-19. The tour was attended by key officials, including Mohamed Saad Berrada, Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, and Chen Xiaolei, Vice President of Huawei Morocco. During the tour, students demonstrated the ICT solutions they had developed to the delegation.

The success of the DigiSchool 2024 program reinforces the Moroccan government’s ongoing commitment to digitalizing national education, promoting inclusion, and ensuring equity. Huawei remains dedicated to supporting these efforts, positioning Morocco as a regional example of leveraging technology for equity and progress.

Huawei is also carrying out similar DigiSchool initiatives in Kenya, Senegal, South Africa, Chile, and China, helping connect remote schools to the internet and enhance the digital skills of students and teachers.
