Egypt’s engineering exports have reached a historic milestone, surpassing $5 billion for the first time. The Engineering Export Council of Egypt reported a 21.6% increase in exports during the first eleven months of 2024, totaling $5.1 billion compared to $4.2 billion in the same period of 2023. This growth showcases the sector’s vital role in Egypt’s economy and its ability to meet global market demands.
Key sectors such as cables, automotive components, transportation, electrical appliances, home appliances, and electronics have driven this surge. Major export destinations include the United Kingdom, Turkey, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, and African markets such as Libya, Algeria, and Kenya.
Sherif El-Sayed, Chairman of the Engineering Export Council, praised this achievement as a testament to the potential of Egypt’s engineering industries and called for more investments in local manufacturing to penetrate global markets. To further enhance the sector’s growth, the council will host a conference titled “The Future of Egypt’s Engineering Exports” on January 13, 2025, with Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib in attendance.
