Bangladesh Improves in Global Mobile Internet Speed Rankings

Bangladesh has made progress in the global mobile internet speed rankings, rising to 88th place out of 111 nations, according to Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index for November. The country’s average mobile internet download speed increased to 28.26 Mbps in November, up from 27.56 Mbps in October.

The United Arab Emirates maintained its top position with a significant average mobile internet speed of 441.89 Mbps, while India climbed to 25th with 100.78 Mbps, improving from its previous 26th rank. Among other South Asian countries, Bangladesh’s neighbors Maldives, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Myanmar ranked 28th, 97th, 100th, 110th, and 111th, respectively.

Bangladesh’s mobile internet services are primarily provided by Banglalink, Grameenphone, Robi, and Teletalk, with Banglalink noted for the fastest mobile internet, offering consistent speeds above 5 Mbps for downloads and 1 Mbps for uploads in 89% of its tests. Additionally, Bangladesh’s fixed broadband performance improved, climbing two positions to 99th globally, with the median download speed increasing to 48.91 Mbps.

The Speedtest Global Index, a reputable benchmark for internet performance, highlights the improvements in Bangladesh’s connectivity and shows ongoing trends in global internet speeds.
