Morocco Advocates for AI Integration in Education at Arab Ministers Conference

At the 14th Conference of Arab Ministers of Education in Doha, Morocco emphasized the importance of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into education. Younes Shimi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, highlighted AI’s potential to make teaching more proactive, reduce dropout rates, and improve academic performance.

In his speech, delivered on behalf of Education Minister Mohammed Saad Berrada, Shimi called for the development of an Arab strategy to enhance the use of AI in education, ensuring it is accessible, effective, and tailored to the needs of Arab societies. Morocco’s commitment to educational reforms, outlined in the 2021-2026 program, also includes training teachers in AI to improve their ability to meet students’ needs.

Shimi discussed Morocco’s ongoing initiatives, such as the “Pioneer Schools” project, which aims to improve teaching methods and education quality. The government’s 2021-2026 plan allocates significant projects to recognize the role of teachers in enhancing education.

The speech also reflected Morocco’s broader strategy to benefit from AI in various sectors, including education, as part of the country’s push to stay at the forefront of technological advancements. The conference concluded with the “Doha Declaration,” a commitment to collective Arab efforts in education, particularly the integration of AI and other advanced technologies to improve educational outcomes region-wide.
