Sigma Capital, a Gulf-based private equity firm specializing in early-stage startups, has announced the launch of a $100 million fund aimed at investing in the rapidly growing web3 sector. The “Sigma Capital Fund I” will focus on key areas such as decentralized finance, blockchain infrastructure, tokenization of real-world assets, gaming, and the metaverse, according to a press release issued on January 14.
As part of the fund’s strategy, Sigma Capital will also manage a portfolio of liquid tokens, leveraging market opportunities to generate consistent returns. The firm plans to invest in 100 early-stage startups, 25 liquid tokens, and 10 fund-of-funds over the next three years. Additionally, Sigma will employ high-yield strategies in decentralized finance to optimize the fund’s portfolio performance, while also investing in high-growth crypto venture funds to expand exposure to emerging web3 innovations.
Vineet Budki, Sigma Capital’s CEO and managing partner, will lead the initiative. He stated that the firm envisions a digital economy that is more open, inclusive, and innovative. Budki emphasized that the UAE’s economy and regulatory environment provide the perfect conditions for web3’s next phase of innovation.
