Instagram Launches ‘Edits’ App for Seamless Video Editing and Sharing

Instagram has unveiled ‘Edits’, a new standalone mobile app designed to cater to content creators seeking a user-friendly video editing tool. Available for free, the ‘Edits’ app allows users to edit video footage of up to 10 minutes, offering a range of features to enhance video content.

One of the standout features of the app is the ability to export videos from other devices to an iPhone, where users can edit and then share the video in full HD (1080p) on social media platforms, including Instagram. The app provides users with several customization options, including adjusting camera settings for resolution, framerate, dynamic range, flash, and zoom controls.

Additionally, ‘Edits’ includes AI-powered animation templates, green screen options to change backgrounds, and video overlay features. Users can also enhance their videos by adding various fonts, sound and voice effects, video filters, and stickers. To improve the audio quality, there is a dedicated feature for enhancing voices and eliminating background noise, as well as an option to auto-generate captions, which can be customized to appear in the video.

Instagram’s CEO, Adam Mosseri, emphasized that ‘Edits’ is more than just a video editing app. He described it as a comprehensive creative suite, featuring tabs for inspiration, tracking ideas, a high-quality camera for recording videos, and the ability to share drafts with friends and creators. The app also offers powerful insights on video performance, especially for users sharing content on Instagram.

Currently, the ‘Edits’ app is available for pre-order on the Apple App Store for iOS users, with the official launch set for March 13. The Android version of the app is expected to be released later in the year.
