Digital experts from Morocco and India gathered at the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) to discuss how technological innovation, inspired by India’s successful Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), can enhance public services in Morocco. The “Exploring Digital Public Infrastructure for Morocco” conference focused on using technology to drive national digital transformation for the benefit of citizens.
Jalal Charaf, UM6P’s Chief Digital Officer, emphasized that DPI is not just about technology but also a pathway to inclusive growth and innovation. The conference, which included key stakeholders from government, academia, and the technology sector, aimed to develop strategies for Morocco’s digital development.
India’s DPI success was highlighted as a valuable guide, but experts noted that Morocco must adapt the model to its unique needs. Noureddine Boutayeb, President of the Moroccan Preschool Foundation, outlined DPI’s critical components: digital identification, digital payments, and digital document exchange, which can simplify citizens’ interactions with the government.
MC Ramesh, CEO of the Center for Open Societal Systems (COSS), shared India’s principles of DPI, which focus on ensuring technology benefits the entire population, not just the top tier, while prioritizing privacy, security, and scalability.
