The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) of Jordan has transferred JD175 million to the Treasury in 2024, according to the sector performance indicators released by the commission. The report, which includes various statistics on regulatory activities, highlights the significant contributions of the TRC in telecommunications and postal sectors.
In 2024, the TRC processed 18,715 customs declarations at its external offices and issued 3,415 type approvals for telecommunications equipment, including both new and renewed certifications. The commission also granted 3,000 device entry approvals and issued 207 exemptions for fifth-generation (5G) infrastructure.
In the postal sector, the number of licensed operators reached 176, including 163 domestic private operators, 12 international private operators, and one public operator.
Jordan’s mobile internet speed ranked 83rd globally as of November 2024, with an average speed of 31Mbps, while the country’s fixed internet speed was ranked 34th globally, with an average speed of 161Mbps. This reflects significant advancements in Jordan’s internet infrastructure, positioning the country to continue its digital transformation.
