The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai recently met with a delegation from e& UAE to explore opportunities for enhancing mobility infrastructure through the use of future technologies. The discussion centered on leveraging advanced tools like 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) to improve smart mobility services and create innovative solutions that address the needs of the digital era.
The collaboration aims to provide real-time, accurate data on traffic movement and logistics services, leading to smoother traffic flow and reduced congestion. The RTA also presented its ongoing digital initiatives, which include projects in seven key areas: digital twin technology, metaverse, robotics, AI, IoT, enterprise solutions, and data analytics. These initiatives are part of the RTA’s Digital Strategy 2023-2030, which encompasses 82 projects aimed at building a flexible and scalable digital infrastructure for the future of transportation in Dubai.
Mohammed Al Mudharreb, CEO of RTA’s Corporate Technology Support Services Sector, emphasized the agency’s commitment to advancing digital innovation in transportation. He noted that technologies such as 5G, AI, and IoT will play a critical role in enhancing the comfort, safety, and quality of life for public transport users.
Abdullah Al Ahmad from e& UAE highlighted the role of advanced digital technologies in driving the digital transformation of smart mobility. He reaffirmed e& UAE’s commitment to providing innovative solutions that align with Dubai’s vision of becoming the world’s smartest city.
The collaboration also explored ideas for future studies, including the integration of Mobility-as-a-Service platforms, IoT vehicle connectivity, and smart city infrastructure through communication towers. The partnership is set to help Dubai maintain its leadership in intelligent transport systems and contribute to the city’s vision of becoming a hub for digital innovation.
