Thales Alenia Space (TAS) has secured a contract from the UAE’s Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) to develop an airlock module for the Lunar Gateway space station. This airlock will allow astronauts to conduct spacewalks, transfer research, and serve as a docking port for spacecraft.
The Lunar Gateway, part of NASA’s Artemis program, aims to become the first international space station around the moon. It is a collaborative project involving NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), and MBRSC.
This contract is part of a series of recent deals for TAS, including two with the European Space Agency for the design of the Venus-bound Envision spacecraft and the Argonaut lunar lander.
