Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister Inspects Key Industrial Developments in 10th of Ramadan and Badr Cities

Kamel Al-Wazir, Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, recently conducted an inspection tour across factories in the 10th of Ramadan and Badr cities. The tour highlighted key developments in the country’s industrial sector, with visits to notable facilities specializing in telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, and electrical components.

The tour began with the inauguration of the Elsewedy Telecom Cables Factory in 10th of Ramadan City. Spanning 70,000 square meters, the factory produces fiber optic cables, copper communication cables, and telecommunications infrastructure accessories. With an investment of EGP 2 billion, the facility boasts a production capacity of 4 million kilometers of fiber optic cables and 200,000 kilometers of copper cables. Nearly 50% of its output is exported, and the factory employs 400 workers. Al-Wazir also emphasized the importance of certification from the National Accreditation Council, enabling the factory to access global markets.

Al-Wazir then visited the Utopia Pharmaceuticals Factory, which specializes in heart and blood pressure medications. The factory, with an investment of EGP 1.1 billion, produces 90% of its products using local components and exports 15% of its output. The factory’s aim is to strengthen Egypt’s local pharmaceutical industry and reduce reliance on imports.

The final stop on the tour was Schneider Electric’s factory in Badr City, which manufactures electrical panels. With an area of 44,600 square meters, the factory has an annual production capacity of 9,000 medium-voltage cell units and exports to over 35 countries. Al-Wazir also inspected the factory’s expansion efforts, which involve an additional 10,000 square meters of production capacity through an 8 million euro investment.
