Algeria Launches National Campaign to Protect Children from Online Dangers

The Algerian Ministry of Post and Telecommunications has launched a national awareness campaign focused on protecting children from online threats. Running from February 8 to 14, 2025, the campaign, themed “The Internet is a Vast Ocean – Let’s Help Our Children Navigate Safely,” brings together numerous government bodies and institutions to promote safe internet practices.

The initiative is a coordinated effort involving the Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Higher Education, and other key ministries, as well as organizations like the National Cybersecurity Agency and the National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data. This broad coalition aims to raise awareness among children, parents, and educators on how to safely navigate the internet.

The campaign focuses on educating the public about the dangers of cyberbullying, online predators, data breaches, and exposure to inappropriate content, while also addressing the growing issues of excessive gaming, social media misuse, and online addiction. Algeria’s proactive approach promotes digital literacy, responsible internet use, and cybersecurity, ensuring that the internet remains a safe space for children to explore and learn.

Through this initiative, Algeria is reaffirming its commitment to fostering responsible digital citizenship and protecting children from online risks, reinforcing a safer, more secure digital environment for future generations.
