Lenovo and Alat Break Ground on New Manufacturing Hub in Riyadh, Advancing Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030

Lenovo, in collaboration with Alat, has broken ground on a new manufacturing hub in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking a significant milestone in the kingdom’s economic development. The facility, located in the Special Integrated Logistics Zone (SILZ), will span 200,000 sqm and produce millions of “Saudi Made” laptops, desktops, and servers. The $2 billion investment aims to enhance supply chain resilience and flexibility while aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals.

The factory, set to begin production in 2026, will be strategically located just 15 minutes from Riyadh’s international airport, enabling Lenovo to cater more effectively to customers in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. This facility will complement Lenovo’s existing global footprint and strengthen its position in the rapidly growing IT and business services market in the MEA region.

Lenovo’s expansion in Saudi Arabia is expected to create up to 15,000 direct jobs and 45,000 indirect jobs, contributing up to $10 billion to the country’s non-oil GDP by 2030. In addition to the manufacturing hub, Lenovo will establish a regional Middle East and Africa headquarters in Riyadh, further solidifying its presence in the region. The company will also invest in R&D, marketing, and strategic partnerships, driving sustainable growth and national development.

Yuanqing Yang, Chairman and CEO of Lenovo, expressed excitement about the partnership, noting that it aligns with Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification and industrial development objectives. Amit Midha, CEO of Alat, also highlighted the importance of the partnership in leveraging local market insights and fostering further potential in the region.
