Bahrain’s Revamped eKey 2.0 App Reaches 13,000 Registrations on Launch Day

Bahrain’s Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) announced that the “Revamped eKey 2.0” app, developed in collaboration with Beyon Connect, has crossed 13,000 registrations within just one day of its official launch on February 10, 2025. The app is available for download on the eGovernment Apps Store, as well as on iOS, Android, and Huawei stores.

The iGA invited the public to submit inquiries, feedback, and suggestions through various channels, including the National Suggestions and Complaints System, the “Tawasul” app, or directly through the Government Services Contact Center.

iGA CEO Mohammed Ali Al Qaed attributed the strong initial engagement to Bahrain’s public awareness and advanced digital culture, highlighting the interest in leveraging modern technologies to access government services. The app’s success supports the iGA’s ongoing efforts in implementing digital transformation strategies as part of the Government Program for 2023-2026, which aims to further digitize services, enhance user experience, and maintain high security standards.

The eKey 2.0 app facilitates digital ID authentication for accessing government and private sector eServices, offering a password-less login option through facial recognition. Additionally, it allows users to easily authorize third parties to complete transactions and provides individuals with the ability to control and approve data sharing based on their consent.

The app is seen as a step toward empowering citizens and residents with secure, streamlined access to various services.
