Eni and AICS Sign MoU to Enhance Technical Education and Job Prospects for Youth in Egypt

Eni and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement the “Energize ATS: Improving Technical Education and Job Prospects for Youth in Egypt” program. The signing took place in Cairo, with the presence of key ministers from Italy and Egypt.

The initiative aims to improve technical education in Egypt by aligning it with the labor market’s demands and supporting the green and digital transitions. The program builds on Eni’s success with the Applied Technology School in Port Said, which graduated its first cohort in 2024.

The MoU outlines the creation of two additional applied technology schools, one in Matrouh Governorate and another in Damietta Governorate. Eni will focus on the management of the schools, curriculum development, accreditation, and the training of trainers, in collaboration with Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. AICS will assist with renovating educational infrastructure, supplying equipment and furniture, and promoting inclusiveness, especially for female students and students with disabilities.

This program supports Italy’s Mattei Plan for Africa, which aims to enhance education and training through public-private partnerships. Eni’s presence in Egypt dates back to 1954, and the company remains a major player in the country’s oil and gas sector.
