Microsoft Launches AI Tour in Cairo, Celebrating 30 Years in Egypt

Cairo, Egypt – Microsoft’s global AI Tour arrived in Cairo today, showcasing AI’s potential to drive innovation and economic growth. In partnership with Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the event gathered government officials, business leaders, and technology innovators to explore AI’s role in boosting public sector services and business productivity. The event coincided with Microsoft’s 30th anniversary in Egypt, underscoring the company’s ongoing commitment to the country’s digital transformation.

Key Egyptian officials, including H.E. Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education, and H.E. Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, discussed how AI is revolutionizing sectors like education, supply chain optimization, and public services. The AI Tour aligns with Egypt’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (2025–2030), which aims to position Egypt as a leading AI hub in the MENA region.

Lillian Barnard, President of Microsoft Africa, emphasized AI’s transformative power, stating that organizations investing in Generative AI have seen significant returns. She also highlighted Microsoft’s role in democratizing access to AI and cloud technologies, helping organizations boost productivity and efficiency.

The event featured keynote addresses, technical workshops, and live demonstrations of Microsoft’s AI tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, which is already used by nearly 70% of the Fortune 500. Business leaders and IT professionals experienced how Microsoft Surface AI PCs and Copilot+ integrate with Microsoft’s cloud solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

Several organizations shared their success stories, including the Ministry of Higher Education, which used Azure OpenAI to develop an AI-powered tutor, and Ghabbour Auto Group, which adopted Microsoft 365 Copilot to improve customer engagement and drive growth.

The AI Tour marks a significant step in Microsoft’s efforts to foster AI adoption across Egypt’s public and private sectors and support the country’s ambition to become a global leader in artificial intelligence.
