Batelco by Beyon has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GSMA, marking its official entry into the Open Gateway Initiative. This strategic partnership provides Batelco access to a standardized framework of APIs, enabling faster deployment and integration of innovative services.
Through this collaboration, Batelco will offer a range of cutting-edge solutions, including enhanced mobile edge computing, real-time fraud detection, advanced IoT connectivity, and optimized network slicing for enterprise customers. These solutions will provide businesses and individuals with more efficient, secure, and scalable technologies, contributing to the digital transformation of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The MoU was signed by Batelco’s Chief Technology Officer, Rashid Mohamed, and GSMA’s Head of MENA, Jawad J. Abbassi, during a ceremony at Beyon’s headquarters in Hamala. The partnership aligns with Batelco’s vision to enhance customer experiences through advanced network solutions and contribute to regional digital transformation. By joining the Open Gateway Initiative, Batelco solidifies its position as a leader in Bahrain’s telecommunications sector and further accelerates network advancements.
Rashid Mohamed, Batelco’s Chief Technology Officer, expressed excitement about the partnership, emphasizing how it will drive greater customer satisfaction and position Batelco at the forefront of global telecommunications innovation. The integration of Batelco’s technology platforms with the world’s largest connectivity platform will enable access to advanced 5G capabilities, improving network efficiency and service scalability.
Jawad J. Abbassi, Head of MENA at GSMA, welcomed Batelco to the initiative, highlighting the potential for Bahrain to lead in 5G mobile network deployment. He also noted that the GSMA Open Gateway initiative is helping operators improve cybersecurity and reduce online fraud, with further opportunities in areas like media, entertainment, and smart mobility as 5G networks continue to evolve.
