DCO Signs Key Memorandums of Understanding at Fourth General Assembly in Amman

AMMAN: During its fourth general assembly in Amman, the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) signed multiple memorandums of understanding with prominent global entities. The agreements were made with the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Foundation, Hewlett-Packard, the Agency for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Sultanate of Oman, and 500 Global. Additionally, a statement of intent was signed between the DCO and the UN Office for South-South Cooperation.

These signings followed a visit by the DCO delegation to Jordan’s Prime Minister, Jaafar Abdel Fattah Hassan.

Sami Smeirat, the Jordanian Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, and Chairman of the DCO Council, expressed that Jordan’s presidency of the organization in 2024 had showcased the nation’s leadership in advancing global efforts to build an inclusive digital economy. He added, “Throughout this year, we have launched ambitious initiatives, strengthened public-private partnerships, and built a strong foundation to empower youth and women in the technology sector.”

Looking ahead, Smeirat highlighted the transition of the presidency to Kuwait for 2025. He reiterated Jordan’s commitment to continuing its active partnership with the DCO in achieving the organization’s goals, emphasizing the shared vision for a prosperous and fair digital world.

Deemah Al-Yahya, Secretary-General of the DCO, reflected on the organization’s progress over the past four years and its future goals, stating, “While much has been accomplished, there remains critical work ahead to foster digital economic growth for all.”

The assembly also included panels and discussions with leading experts from around the globe, underscoring the importance of collaboration and innovation in the digital economy.

Founded in November 2020, the DCO now comprises 16 member countries, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Pakistan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, and Oman. The organization also works with 39 observer and partner organizations.
