The Saudi Media Forum, which commenced on Wednesday, February 19, in Riyadh, continued into its second day on Thursday, attracting Saudi royals, ministers, media executives, and influencers from around the world. The event underscores Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in the global media landscape.
The forum opened with a speech by Saudi Minister of Media, Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossary, followed by a session featuring Saudi Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also participated in a discussion on the role of media in shaping his political career, which sparked considerable interest among international attendees.
The event includes 35 panel discussions and 11 workshops, bringing together speakers from both Saudi Arabia and abroad to discuss emerging media trends. On the first day, the Future of Media Exhibition (FOMEX) was launched, showcasing over 250 companies from both local and international markets, displaying technologies related to digital broadcasting and production.
During the first day of the forum, six agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed to support digital infrastructure, broadcasting, and tourism projects aligned with Saudi Vision 2030. These initiatives are in line with development goals in regions such as Nepal. The forum also featured workshops focusing on media innovation and digital content creation, offering valuable insights for industry professionals.
The forum concluded on Thursday, serving as a platform for media leaders and researchers to discuss global media trends and innovations, with relevance to the rapidly growing media industries around the world, including Nepal.
