Pakistan to Establish First-Ever Data Park to Promote Data-Driven Learning

A high-level meeting chaired by Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has approved the establishment of Pakistan’s first Data Park. The park aims to enhance data-driven learning and informed decision-making, offering real-time socio-economic data through interactive tools. The initiative is designed to empower students, researchers, and policymakers with accessible data for evidence-based decision-making and research.

Attended by key figures, including PBS Chief Statistician Dr. Naeem Uz Zafar, the meeting emphasized the need for universities to engage in data-driven research. Inspired by the World Bank’s digital learning initiatives, the Data Park will be placed in public spaces to ensure broad accessibility, fostering data literacy and critical thinking among the youth.

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) is tasked with creating an interactive digital environment that showcases the country’s economic and social trends. The initiative is part of the government’s broader push to promote digital education and support knowledge-based policymaking. A formal launch plan for the Data Park is underway.
