Dubai Launches ‘Salama’ AI Platform to Transform Residency Services

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai has unveiled an innovative AI platform named ‘Salama,’ designed to revolutionize the efficiency and accessibility of residency services. The announcement was made at the Fourth Annual Media Council, which was held under the theme “Media Vision Shaping the Future,” with senior officials, including Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, in attendance.

Salama aims to simplify residency-related processes, providing residents with a fast and seamless way to manage tasks such as renewing or canceling residency permits, making payments, and completing other essential transactions—all without the need for traditional paperwork.

This AI-powered platform aligns with the UAE’s Vision 2071 and Dubai’s Digital Transformation Strategy, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving accessibility and efficiency in public services.

Lieutenant General Al Marri emphasized the platform’s role in reshaping government services, stating, “Digital transformation is not just about building services; it’s about improving customer experiences, government performance, and fulfilling the leadership’s goal of accessible services.”

The Salama platform is tailored to residents’ needs, offering quick responses to visa inquiries and allowing users to complete transactions without visiting service centers. Future updates will include expanded capabilities, such as supporting company-related services.

Colonel Khalid bin Madia Al Falasi, Assistant Director General of the Digital Services Affairs Sector at GDRFA Dubai, highlighted the advanced features of Salama, stating, “The launch of Salama marks a shift in how users engage with government services.” He further explained that the platform uses sophisticated algorithms to provide quick and accurate responses, processing requests in mere seconds.

Currently, the platform focuses on residency permit renewals and cancellations, but plans are in place to extend the service to include company-related features. Salama is accessible through smart channels and UAE Pass, making it simple for users to complete their transactions. A live demonstration during the forum showed the system’s speed, with one user completing a residency permit renewal in just a few seconds.

Once logged in, Salama automatically recognizes the user’s data, displays dependent details, and offers an easy renewal process. After selecting the renewal option and completing the payment, the renewed permit is sent directly to the user’s registered email.

The platform supports over 40 languages, with more to be added in the future, ensuring broader accessibility. Each transaction takes only 10-20 seconds, providing a faster, user-friendly experience for Dubai residents.

Through Salama, residents can now renew their visas in record time, significantly enhancing the efficiency and convenience of Dubai’s residency services.
