Meta has officially launched Meta AI across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, bringing its AI-powered chatbot services to millions of new users. This expansion follows Meta’s previous announcement in October, which revealed plans for a broader rollout to markets such as Brazil and the U.K. The MENA region is now included in this global strategy, with the chatbot being available in countries including Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, UAE, and Yemen.
Along with the geographic expansion, Meta is adding Arabic language support to its AI tools, enabling users to access features such as virtual assistants on platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. These assistants can provide personalized recommendations, such as suggesting places to visit or songs to add to a road trip playlist. Additionally, Meta is working on rolling out more advanced multimodal features in the region, including “Imagine Me,” which creates stylized selfies, and audio dubbing for Instagram Reels.
Currently, Meta AI is available in 42 countries and 13 languages, with over 700 million users across WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and Facebook. However, the specific features available in each market may differ. For example, in some European countries, the service is restricted to general queries on Meta’s Ray-Ban AR glasses, in compliance with data privacy regulations.
This launch underscores Meta’s ongoing commitment to expanding AI accessibility and personalizing the user experience across global markets.
