Visa has launched its Tap-to-Add Card feature in Jordan, enabling cardholders to add their Visa contactless cards to digital wallets simply by tapping their mobile devices. The feature improves security and simplifies the card-linking process by reducing manual data entry errors and fraud risks.
By generating a unique, one-time code validated through Visa’s Chip Authenticate service, Tap-to-Add eliminates the need for manual card input, offering a more secure and efficient alternative to traditional methods. Since its introduction in September 2024, the feature has gained traction globally, with over 542 Tap-to-Add tokens enabled in Jordan.
The feature benefits all parties in the payments ecosystem. For consumers, it provides a streamlined and secure way to add cards to digital wallets, potentially encouraging the wider adoption of digital payments. Financial institutions may see reduced fraud risks and fewer customer service inquiries related to card provisioning. Digital wallet providers benefit from higher provisioning rates due to fewer errors in card entries, ensuring compliance with Visa’s security standards.
Visa’s Tap-to-Add Card feature is also expanding globally, with a launch in Ukraine in February 2025 aimed at improving security and simplifying the digital wallet integration process. Visa believes that simplifying and securing the process will drive wider adoption of digital wallets in various markets.
