The Arab Energy Fund, formerly known as APICORP, has announced the launch of the “TAEF Hartree Cleantech LP,” a $120 million Limited Partnership (LP) in collaboration with Hartree Partners, a global energy and commodities firm. The new platform aims to invest in physical and digital decarbonisation technologies at the venture capital (VC) stage, supporting entrepreneurs and advancing sustainable energy solutions across the energy value chain.
This strategic partnership strengthens the Arab Energy Fund’s position as a regional leader in impact investing, emphasizing energy security and innovation. The LP will leverage Hartree Partners’ deep market insights and research to identify and support ventures that contribute to decarbonisation, particularly in the energy transition, carbon markets, and scalable industrial solutions.
Hartree Partners, through its subsidiary Vertree Partners, has already built a robust cleantech portfolio, investing in ten companies across key sectors such as industrial decarbonisation, emissions verification, geospatial data, and climate change adaptation technologies. These investments will be integrated into the new partnership, amplifying its impact on the global cleantech ecosystem.
Khalid Ali Al-Ruwaigh, CEO of The Arab Energy Fund, emphasized the initiative’s alignment with the Fund’s strategy to provide debt and equity solutions that foster the growth of local energy value chains in the MENA region. Stephen Hendel, Founding Managing Director of Hartree Partners, expressed pride in the collaboration, highlighting their shared commitment to sourcing and supporting transformative cleantech innovations globally.
The LP, already managing a portfolio of ten companies, will continue to collaborate with leading investors such as BlackRock, Microsoft, and Union Square Ventures. The partnership is expected to accelerate the development of decarbonisation technologies and position the Arab Energy Fund as a global leader in sustainable energy financing.
This collaboration will drive further growth in the cleantech sector, expanding the scope and scale of investments aimed at transforming the global energy landscape.
